I downloaded a free WinRAR.exe download for my HTC evo, including "install" download, but HTC evo apparently does not recognize exe files. It was supposed to be a mobile version, my aggrevation is I've had this phone/ pc whatever it is bout 6 weeks and its the first computer ,internet experience I've ever had. I've got plenty of Sence, and spent countless no sleep nights trying to understand the most basic stuff. Don't have a pc....yet... so this is but one of a hundred questions, since my current project is learning movie downloads, ALSO...how do you merge files from filestube when you have to ( free) download in 3 or more parts, remember EVERYTHING I DO IS ON MY EVO AND NO ACCESS TO A PC!

Simple... .exe ONLY works on Windows machines or Linux/Unix devices with a variant of Wine installed. Although the Android Operating system is based off of linux, there currently is no Wine equivalent... plus, I don't really see how you would make one for it. The closest idea would be Adobe Air/flash, which is a cross-platform virtual machine if you will. Its only for Adobe Air and Flash files though, so this wouldn't help you anyway. Borrow a PC, try to find a public one or whatever. I used my Epic this past week as a PC since I needed to for business reasons and it was still very difficult. Running 2.2.1 made things much easier (that, and being in LA with AWESOME 4G service helped). My battery took a big hit though. I didn't need to do what you did, but downloading movies on Media Hub worked well for the flights (Free Gogo FTW!) and my Game Gripper kept me sane in the Airport. As for handling files, I only really needed it to handle PDF's, Flash Webpages and be able to be used as a flash drive. The Keyboard was a god-sent when using the phone to respond back to messages on a Personel Placement Service

If there is indeed a mobile version of winrar as you say, then you downloaded the wrong file. You want a file with extension ".apk" - I would check your source and try again.

Moving thread to the Evo section btw.

i dont see anything about WinRar for Android on rarlab.com so its probably false. Side note, they stopped development on PocketRAR :( (sorry, WinMo days.....)
