Turn off Facebook showing notification number

I guess I got an update to Facebook today, because I have never seen this before. Facebook is now showing a number of notifications on the icon, similar to my texting app (see attached picture). I don't want to pay that much attention to Facebook, I will open it when I am darn good and ready. Is there a way to turn that feature off without turning all the notifications with Facebook? I do like getting the notifications on events and if I am tagged in the notification shade.

I have an LG V10. It wasn't like this last week, that I am sure.

Correct on the stock launcher. I do have Nova installed (purchased it when it was on sale on June 21), but I have not even opened it yet. I was not getting the notification bubble until this week, so just having Nova installed can't be the issue.

I'm going to move this to the V10 forum, because the unread count badge is most likely related to the stock LG launcher. You're more likely to get a response from someone else familiar with the V10 over there.

Yeah it has been on mine since day 1 too. I just recently got a different V10 through a warranty exchange and didn't install the app. I use a web shortcut now. A lot easier on the battery and resources. Made a big difference for me.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. This notification bubble just starting showing up somewhere closet to July 26. At least for me anyway.

It sounds like we've confirmed that the V10's ability to show unread notification count badges is part of the stock LG launcher. Is it possible that before the update, you had FB notifications turned off, and after the update, they somehow turned on? Before you got the update, were you getting FB notification icons in the status bar?

Go into Facebook app settings and turn off notifications.
