If you already have a Chromecast and intend on getting a Chromecast 2.0, you can get a $10 HDMI/Audio splitter from Amazon or eBay and turn your Chromecast 1.0 into a "Chromecast Audio".
I have that setup and it works about half the time. The other half I have to unplug the chromecast from the adaptor and plug it back in to make it work. Not sure if that's typical but that's my experience. I went ahead and ordered a chromecast audio. No more worries once it gets here!
Thank you for jumping in. I was thinking about that (problems with cheap adapter). I'm just going to get a Chromecast Audio and I'll be happier knowing that I paid for the real deal.
I should be getting my chromecast audio today. As of now, it is out on FedEx truck for delivery..!!... Can't wait....!!
I mainly bough it to use with my stereo receiver I have in the living room. I do have portable bluetooth speaker but didn't feel the need to use it at home since i havea stereo. It just needs something like the chromecast audio!!
You need to fool to chromecast to believe there's a monitor plugged in by placing a few resistors in the RGB. That's what I've been using for the past number of months, with a very rare need to power down chromecast, likely due to over-heating.
Yeah, I had mine setup like that too but for some reason, I had to unplug it and plug it back in too often. I have the chromecast audio now and it's so much better. Way more reliable and the music starts much faster when I cast to it.
