Turning off display disconnects call?

I'm coming off of a two year old Samsung Infuse. With my old phone I would make a phone call for use with my bluetooth headset then turn off the display for the duration of the call. If I try this with my HTC One, the call is ended immediately after pressing the button in the top, left-hand corner to turn off the display. Am I doing this wrong or is there a way to disable this function? The reverse is true also so if I'm in the middle of a call and my screen turns off, I'm unable to turn it back on without disconnecting the call. Any advice?

Are you in accessibility mode? One of the things that does is make the power button end calls. I'd go into settings and make sure you don't have accessibility mode active.

Christ on crutches. "Power button ends call" was checked. I was looking all over for default button settings but never thought to check the accessibility options. THANK YOU!!!!

This is what I was thinking.. Glad you got it fixed! :).
