Turning off Notifications

How do I make it so I don't get a tiny little number next to my Facebook icon telling me how many notifications I have? Silly question, but my OCD can't handle it. Thank you

I believe you'd just have to disable the notification. I think the notification itself it just programmed to show how many are there.
