Two days- no signal

All of the sudden (2 days now), I have no 4g or 3g service. I just stare at gray bars and can't connect. All I can use is wifi and only at home. Work doesn't allow it. Juice defender says radios are disabled. I have always had issues with switching between 4 and 3g and now no data whatsoever. I tried rebooting, battery pull, etc. I am on my second sim card, which hasn't helped at all. I am stock and have looked into unlocking the bootloader and rooting but it is all too confusing. I don't think I can wait till May for 4.0.4.

So, does anyone have any advice as to how to get data back? I'm about ready to put it through a wall, but I don't have an Otterbox on it. : )

Hi, thanks! I tried it. Test call went through. Still no gray or blue bars, no data 3g or 4g, no connection to internet when viewing a web page.

Get rid of Juice Defender. Not only is it unnecessary, it usually causes more headaches than it saves in battery life. If it still doesn't work, try a SIM pull.

I've had Juice Defender though since launch on it. What do you mean "fried" the radios? That doesn't sound good. I will try the sim card pull and then I am going to try to go to Verizon today.

I've been using Juice Defender since launch date with absolutely no issues.

I removed the sim card, rebooted, deleted juice defender, everything. Even went out into stronger 4g coverage area and got 1 or 2 gray bars, but they never turned blue. Any other suggestions?

might be a stupid question, but did you check your data settings?

Settings > Select More Under Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks >

Then check to make sure your data is enabled.
Try changing your network mode.
Check your system select is automatic.
try toggling data roaming on and off.

Also check under data usage (Settings > Data Usage) and make sure mobile data is on and that you have not maxed out your mobile data limit.

If none of those are the culprit, I would try a factory reset. If that doesn't do it, it could be faulty hardware. The only thing you could also try at that point would be to unlock/root the phone and flash a fresh image and radio files. Otherwise you should get a replacement.

Have u flashed a rom or a theme lately? Do u see the 3g or 4g with bars and no color? The number culprit for that is a bad rom or theme flash. And yes juice defender or any battery saving app can kill your data our phones are not motorola and very fargile in the radio department

It sounds like you have a bad sim card and a trip to Verizon should fix your data issue that has happened to me on my Tbolt awhile back. I would recommend going to Verizon before you do a factory reset. Also I use 2x Battery which is the same type of application as Juice Defender and I have had issues with at times where only a reboot will turn my data back on and I have no idea why that's happening but it just started a few weeks ago.

I'm going to agree with the sim card. You didn't fry your radios, if you did you wouldnt be making calls either. More than likely another SIM will fix your problem. I would get rid of juicedefender too. I personally don't like apps that mess with automatically changing my settings, I'd rather do it myself, and that could be a problem in this case regardless of how long you have had it installed.

Thanks everyone for the help. I went to Verizon and they tried 2 new sim cards till I finally got a few blue bars, so luckily no fried radios. My signal is still very weak even though I am in a 4g area. I will frequently lose data every time my phone sleeps and it can take upwards of 10 minutes to find the signal. I really need to unlock and root I just am very tentative and inexperienced in doing that. I'm still trying to figure out how to put CM9 on my touchpad.
VZW rep also recommended just leaving it on 3g only because of the problems with handing (so glad I got a 4g phone) and leaving on data roaming which I had unchecked. No word on official OTA update though.

You can always lock it back up and go stock if a new ROM and radios don't help. Then go exchange it.

If you have a warranty thru your carrier plan or thru your employer, you may want to think about that option before you try rooting.
Rooting your phone WILL VOID THE WARRANTY!! If the phone is a company phone than you are messing with company property and they may not like it!?!
If you can take it to a good phone tech to see what is going on, or if you can have it replaced, then try it. If it's your company's, then they may have a tech on call for this stuff, and it's their deal to fix. I have a Verizon MiFI I use for my PC and I have never had a problem with Verizon tech service about anything. They're good. That why we pay them the big money!

My ex had a similar problem when she first got her Nexus. Some type of factory defect. They gave her a new phone.

HUH?????

Take it back and ask them to either fix or replace it. If they can't, ask to speak to the store manager. If s/he can't help you, call tech support and ask that the trouble (that's what they call a problem) be escalated. (And, unfortunately you can't really ask, that the store manager be "escalated" on the tip of someone's show.) If a tech support supervisor can't help you, ask to speak to THAT supervisor's supervisor. (The only one whose head you can't go above is Lowell McAdam's. Everyone else has someone above them.)

It's their phone, it's their problem, so it's up to them to make it work. Stop being a sheep and insist (politely) that they make the phone work or replace it with one that does. If they can't, they've breached your contract and you can (if you want to, which you probably don't) terminate with no ETF. And that's about the second most important thing to them - not allowing a customer to terminate.
