Two-fingered scrolling - new?

I don't know if this is new in Froyo, but I just noticed that scrolling with 2 fingers in the standard mail and contact apps on my Evo gives additional capabilities. In the standard mail app, 2 fingered scrolling jumps forward or backwards one day at a time. In the contact app, it jumps forward or backwards by letter. Pretty cool!

Works in 2.1, too, in People and in the htc mail client.
