AC Question
There are two design flaws with the S7 that could be fixed easily, I’ll get right into it:
-First off, the speaker is a little strange as there is only one and it can be easily obstructed when holding it horizontally and people may hold it this way for many reasons including: preference, watching and streaming media and games, in fact some games force a landscape view and would be worse without it and some can be held either way but when holding it that way the stand alone speaker can be blocked and mute or significantly decrease the sound that the speaker outputs.
I feel this is relevant because there is a game launcher dedicated to games which obviously means that they have acknowledged mobile games while designing the phone.
A simple fix could be adding a setting that would allow the call speaker to be used as a media player, the only problem I could see with this is that it may be limited in volume since it is designed for the ear and high volume could damage hearing but if made so that media alone could be louder than calls then an alternative to the small speaker at the bottom. The setting could allow the use of them together or individually while listening to media.
-Secondly, the lighting of the physical buttons located on the bottom left and right of the phone, since the centre button is protruding slightly and can easily be identified there is no issue but the other to buttons are a little strange in their design.
This is due to the fact that the buttons are lit for a few seconds when the phone user taps them which is strange because after tapping them you more than likely wouldn’t need to use them more than more than once in a short space of time. Bear in mind the time they light up is somewhere between 1 and 2 seconds, by the time you need to use them again they have already turned off, just to be clear most phone users hold their phones with one hand and need to reach over to the center button with a thumb. It is almost second nature to be able press the home button without looking but not the others and quickly identifying the faint outlines and tapping them with your peripheral vision is out of the question. So I think a setting which gives the user control of how the buttons lights function would be great and I’m sure some even like to make some (or use some premade) lighting patterns that could give a little style and personalisation to the phone, as well as the option to be kept on while the phone is in use – excluding while the screen saver is on.
