1. The parameters of the plan are not identical when the device is purchased from the Project Fi Store vs. the Google Store. See https://support.google.com/fi/answer/6337239 for a comparison.

2. When I purchased my Nexus 6P, it was possible to add Device Protection after the fact - up to 30 days after purchase, if I recall correctly. This is no longer the case! I just finished a chat with Google support and he confirmed what this page https://support.google.com/store/answer/6283618 implies; you must order Device Protection at the time you purchase the device. Now that I already have my Pixel XL in hand (arrived yesterday), my only option for adding Device Protection is to return this phone and then place a new order. Of course, we know how long that would take given the current stock situation...

It's not a big deal for me as I am not a huge fan of protection plans, although given the high cost of the Pixel XL 128, I would have considered adding it if it were still possible to do so.

Thanks for this. It's good to know. I tend to buy protection plans even if I may never use them. I've lived long enough to know that the time I don't buy a protection plan is the time I would need it.

I just had a chat with Nexus Protect this morning. Please note, the plan is not transferable if you claimed already. They also mentioned the device has to be original device purchased with plan. They doesn't know if the phone will be eligible to be transferred to other user if the original phone was replaced under Google warranty. They asked me to call Google.....
