two way sync of contacts to gmail and phone

Is there a way to sync the contacts from my phone to my gmail account? My calendar will do a 2 way sync but I am not sure how to make my contacts do the same. I have some contacts in my phone that I need to add to my gmail account. I am new to the droid phone (former blackberry owner who had many issues with her phone and using gmail to update). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not exactly sure on the exact sync method from the phone directly but there is always the option of exporting your contacts to file and then going into GMail on your computer and importing the contacts list... That should cover it. It may not be the exact "proper" way of handling things but I think it will get the job done.

Should be able to from your contacts list bring up your menu option and search in settings for Export/Import contacts.
