Noemi: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Sammobile is reporting Samsung has released new Gear Manager for the Gear 2. Going from 2.2.1.1 to 2.2.1.2. No one I know has received this update. Do you have any info?
Noemi: I am sorry to let you know that we do not have the information of the update as of now.
It's crazy that people receive new software and it is reported on the Internet before Samsung bothers to tell you, their representatives, about it. Must be frustrating for you. It's not like this is a leak.
Noemi: I do understand your concern.
Noemi: However, if Samsung releases any update you can first see the information on Samsung website.
I would think that would be so, but it does not always appear to be that way. Can you give me the Web page address to check for Gear 2 notices. I assume previous changes that I have received will be listed there? In other words, I have received updates to my device and to Gear Manager in the past. What page lists when those were released?
Noemi: Here is the link with the available update.
Noemi: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/howtoguide/N0000895/16782/227321/SM-R3800GNAXAR
Noemi: Are you able to access the above link?
Yes. It's a how-to page? So if new software is released for the device or Gear Manager, it will be noted on the how-to page? I don't see notices about previous updates there.
Noemi: Yes, that is correct.
I have had agents tell me to check the website, but no one can tell me the page with version update info. .. past or present.
Noemi: I do understand your concern.
So you don't find a page that has previous announcements on it?
Noemi: Yes, I am sorry.
So. .. not being difficult, but is it possible then that Samsung actually does not list these updates on its website as you previously stated?
Noemi: I should inform you that if Samsung releases any update you can get the information on Samsung website.
Yes. That's what you said. But you also say you can't point me to a page where that has indeed happened for the Gear 2.
Noemi: May I know your device base band version?
On the watch I see model#, serial number, and software version. Where do I find base band version?
Same info shows in Gear Manager.
Noemi: Please let me know the software version.
Noemi: May I know the model number as well?
Model # is SM-R380 and software version is R380XXU0BND8
Noemi: Thank you for the information.
Noemi: I have checked the required information for you and would like to let you know that the software on your gear two is the released software that is tizen.
Noemi: I also see that there is no update launched.
What is the current version of Gear Manager?

Noemi: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you.
Thanks very much.
Noemi: My pleasure.
Noemi: I have checked the required information for you again and would like to let you know that the Gear Manager version currently is 2.1.1405201.
OK. Thanks. Have a great day. I appreciate your help.
Noemi: You're welcome.
Noemi: It was my pleasure assisting you.

SO....AFTER ALL THAT....SHE COULD NEVER GIVE ME THE SUPPOSEDLY REAL AND HELPFUL WEBSITE PAGE THAT EITHER DOES OR DOES NOT EXIST.

I hear you.. Had some non helpful chat's with them today myself..

Sent from my SM-N9005 using AC Forums mobile app

My experience with Samsung support has been pretty much the same - totally clueless. I have found the best bet for any answers I seek are actually the Samsung guys at Best Buy. Unlike a lot of reps in stores, these guys are actually pretty knowledgeable. In one case, I was complaining to the telephone support people about something on my original Gear watch and they said I'd have to try resetting the watch entirely or send it in, in which case it would be gone for who knows how long. Screw that. I had a feeling they had NO idea what they were talking about. I went to Best Buy and asked the guy there and he knew right away what to do. Took him all of 30 seconds to show me the EASY solution. Unbelievable. Samsung telephonic tech support is completely worthless.
