So I picked up my Nexus 6 two days ago. First impressions were this was a pretty awesome phone. However, those impressions are quickly fading...

First, I noticed an issue with the audio quality while listening to Spotify. There was almost a feedback type sound that came through once every 4-6 minutes. It only last a second, but still annoying.

Next I get a phone call and nothing, dead air on the other line. I call the person back and again, dead air. A quick restart seemed to fix the problem, but again, still annoying.

Anyone else experiencing problems like this? I'm gonna go exchange the phone for a new unit, really hoping I just got a defect...

That is odd.
Which carrier?
Same speaker problems if listening to music stored on the device or streaming from another source?
You can't hear them or they can't hear you, or both?

Mav.

That is really weird. Not sure if you got a defective unit or maybe there is an app on your phone that is causing problems.

It is important to reboot your device after inserting/swapping SIM cards. If you didn't do so, that may be the cause of your "dead air" phone calls.

I agree the other issues may be specific to Spotify and/or the fact that you were streaming.

PS: Phone calls? Who uses their phone to make phone calls these days? :)

I've had my GN6 for exactly one week. No issues streaming music, video or making calls. Not sure if it makes a difference but I purchased mine from motorola.com.

I think I'll return it to AT&T and purchase from the Google Play store instead. I'm going to be using the phone a lot today (streaming music, emails, phone calls, etc) so if there is a persistent problem, I'll find out.

Just an update for everyone. I did some troubleshooting, and cleared my cached data (1.9GB)

Since then, I don't have any of the original problems. I listened to Spotify for about 5 hours and made about 5 phone calls without issue. I'm going to give it a few more days before exchanging, but it looks like that fixed the problem.

I have a smartwatch (Pebble) so I've used bluetooth since I took the phone out of the box.
