I am thinking I am just going to preorder the phone. If its bad Ill send it back with a restocking fee. HTC allows 30 days, red devil allows 14. I am buying this phone out right and not interested in payments so we can just set that part aside.

HTC I can get Uh oh but I pay $50 more for the phone. I am unsure of their restocking fee. I also feel I am "contributing" more directly to HTC as red Devil buys a "batch" of phones and are stuck with them whether they sell them or not.

red Devil I have to put it on a payment plan and then play games to pay it off immediately. I have figured out ordering online last night they sneakily change your data plan if you are not paying attention. If you click on the edit and go through a couple screens they begrudgingly allow you to pick your old plan and just pay for the phone.

So pay 50 for Uh oh or deal with the red Devil? And please, I am really not interested in hearing how the AMOLED screen on the S7 would pay me to buy it and end world hunger. ;-)

As far as I know there is no restocking fee but I could be wrong. For me it's no question. I always choose unlocked over the carrier model.

I would choose unlocked if I were you. Just my two cents. I am always leery of big red changing something for some bs excuse just because you bought a new phone.

I can't by a TRUE unlocked for Big Red; right? Its been proven here that data network doesn't work right. I can buy from HTC direct pushing the Red Devil logo. That was what I was going to do.

I bought a phone on the payments plan online and they didn't change the data plan. Right not if you makes payments its cheaper than paying it all up front

RIght thats the essence of "paying" $50 for the uh oh as it doesnt match up dollar for dollar to payment plan pricing.

Wait, I'm confused... The VZW HTC doesn't come with Uh-oh protection, only the unlocked one does?

i asked htc about that since im buying sprint variant and was told if i bought htc 10 through carrier no ut oh protection only if i bought directly throught htc

What does this even mean?

I think he's referring to the thing S7 owners have been bombarding HTC 10 threads with. Phone wars stuff.

I'm in the same boat. I've always just bought from Verizon in the past, but it really annoys me that they've removed the Uh Oh protection intentionally, and that it is so difficult to find any information about it.

I'm nervous about just ordering the Verizon model from the HTC website, as it only mentions the Uh Oh for the unlocked versions:
"If you crack your screen during the first 12 months you own your unlocked HTC 10, we'll replace it for free. UH OH Protection also covers water damage"

Also noticed that on the HTC website, the HTC 10 is not listed among the eligible products. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...tection%2Feligible-products%2F&token=OJfaACfw

I might as well just order from Verizon and save the money if the HTC.com version won't include Uh Oh either.

What's so bad about carrier insurance? It's good for the life of the phone as long as it's the one active on the account for lost stolen or damaged

Carrier insurance isn't free... And the deductibles are quite expensive also....

I pay $11 a month on Sprint, and they have replaced defective phones, or phones with loose charging ports, broken vibration motors, quickly, without deductibles., many times... From my understanding, Uh Oh protection came with every HTC phone, since the M9, and was available as an option if you cracked your screen during the first year, regardless of where you bought the phone, for one repair. The down side was you had to be without your phone for a week or two while they fixed it. I opted for my carrier insurance the one time I cracked my screen, because they sent me a replacement, and then I was able to send the broken one in. Downside was a $150 deductible.

wow... you throw away $132 a year for the privlige of paying $150 to repair a phone. Apple will just replace a broken phone on the spot fod that much, no money needed to throw away. guess this is how carriers make so much money.
