UK Based User - Nexus 7 in Official Dock Very Very Slow Charging - Looking for Guidance

Hi All.....

My wall socket is a bit away from where my Charging Dock is, so I ended using a usb extension cable from the Official Nexus charger in the socket to the official Nexus 7 cable into the back of the Official nexus dock.....

Putting the device into the dock at 14% and charging with the screen off for about 8hours only yielded 38%....This is obviously very wrong, looking at the nexus when i dock & before I remove....The charging symbol is on, so I am hoping/guessing that its a nice strong connection and isnt dropping on/off....Fingers crossed...

Can anyone recommend and tested high quality fast charging long cables to replace the official cable & extension cable or any other advice...

The N7 does tend to charge slower at lower percentages of charge than it does at higher, but I agree that seems incredibly slow. I wonder if it was actually off or if it was in daydream, etc. and also how the extension cable played a part. Was it a cable intended for data transfer or for charging? The reason I ask this is (and also if it's meant for USB 2.0 or USB 3.0) is that many USB cables are rated for .5A charging, because that is typically what USB 2.0 ports will output, whereas the stock charger is meant to convey either 2.0A or 2.1A to the Nexus 7 (I forget which and I'm not looking at mine). As far as recommending a charger, I'm under the impression that you have outlets that are configured differently than the ones we have in the States, so I'd be foolish to try to recommend one that worked for me. I am however interested in what you find, especially if it's an extension that allows the full 2.0 or 2.1A charge.

Hi....Thanks for the Warm Welcome......

Initially I thought Daydream mode was causing the slow charging....However over the last week, i have disabled Daydream & make sure the screen is off when I dock it...But it hasnt really made that much of a difference it has a bit, but not much....especially since it was charging for 7hours+

I think I just need to try and get myself a good long cable to remove the extension cable as the cause...That way, I can prove/disprove my theory.....Little concerned that the dock maybe the issue.....Tonight I will leave the extension cable in, but remove the dock from the equation & put the cable straight into the nexus and see how my charging goes tonight.

Ok...So i took the USB extension cable out of the mix last night, daydream still off....Nexus was 26% when I went to bed at 1am(Way too late), up again at 7am this morning and it was fully charged......so is it the introduction of the extension cable or the increase in length of cable that is causing the delay......Need to get my hands on a longer cable & test that......Might turn daydrem on again and see how I get on with that tonight with the same config of no extenstion cable...
