I have (ofcourse) the HTC Thunderbolt, and as of two days ago it has been stuck in a boot-loop, I have taken the following steps to try and fix the issue. The boot loop I am explaining is that only the white HTC splash screen appears and then dissapears, vibrates, and comes back, then repeat. I have not been able to reach the homepage on the phone, only the splash screen and the HBOOT screen.

-Gone to HBOOT and did recover, still stuck in boot loop
-Gone to HBOOT and did factory reset, still stuck in boot loop
-Removed SIM and SD, still stuck in boot loop
-Tried another battery (extended battery)

Does anyone have any tips for me so I can get my phone into working condition? I was told rooting it would solve my issues, but I am unsure how I would even do that since I can't get to a homescreen, or I could also be sounding like a total moron lol but that's because I've never rooted a phone. Please help me :D

I would try a manual factory reset. How to do so currently escapes me but if i find out before you i will post it. Once done youll want to stay away from any recently downloaded apps that may have caused the loop.

I am having the same problem on my Kyocera Brigadier. I would try this, but I don't want to lose everything, and I have no recently installed apps. I'm beginning to think that mine is caused by a rootkit containing a virus since it activated when I tried to turn my phone on this morning, and hasn't stopped since. I know to remove a rootkit virus on a computer, you generally have to replace the seamoss, but if this is caused by a rootkit, how does one go about removing a rootkit from an android phone?
