Unable to access MetroPCS 3G/4G on LG Wine Smart 2

I recently purchased an LG Wine Smart 2 on the understanding that I would be able to access high(ish) speed data over 1900Mhz on MetroPCS. I had no trouble activating the phone, but am only getting painfully slow 2G speeds. Am I out of luck or do I have any options?

Welcome to Android Central! According to these specs, the phone only uses the 850 MHz and 2100 MHz bands for 3G (which includes HSPA+), and the 800 MHz, 900MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2600 MHz bands for 4G LTE. According to this support page, T-Mobile (which is what MetroPCS uses) has the 1900 MHz and 1700/2100 MHz bands for 3G (1700/2100 MHz is not the same as 2100 MHz alone), and the 700 MHz, 1900 MHz, and 1700/2100 MHz bands for 4G LTE. There is no overlap for 3G or 4G on that phone--that's why you're only getting 2G.
