Unable to Authinticate Phone

Hello all, I just received my brand new black and white evo 4g.. but i cant use it. I live in a poor service area and i am always roaming. I'm an otr truck driver.. so it doesnt matter other than 5 days a month.. but what if this happens to me over the road. I had to drive 50 miles north to activate my phone.. and it worked flawlessly on non roaming 3g signal.. then i come back home.. and keep getting the unable to authenticate recording when i try to make a call.. I can use the internet and receive sms text.. but just cant call.. sprint reps said they couldnt help me.. and finally wound up sending me a new evo.. but what if the new evo does the same thing?! Is there any fix to this? Maybe a new rom or something would help fix this problem? I believe the prolem is in the current prl it has installed.. but its the stock one.. Im stumped on this matter.. any help would be HUGELY appreciated.

Have you tried updating your profile and prl?

Well, i have tried that. When it activated today for me.. it updated the prl and profile. Which makes me think, i need to reject the automatic prl update when it does hands free activation. Anyone else have this problem? Is this a common problem for my series of phone? Thanks
