Hi, I recently reset this phone for my mum due to her old one breaking. When I enter her email a message comes up saying 'unable to sign into device. Try again in 24 hours'. How do I fix this?
Thanks

Did you remove your Google account from it? If not, sign in using your old credentials (password, PIN, whatever) first, then remove your Google account, then restart and put in her Google account.

Hi, I'm in a similar situation where the solution does not work. I found this phone in the alley, and replaced the badly cracked screen. Now I'm hoping to give the phone to my girlfriend, after getting it working. Cool looking around the guts of this phone, but now I'm stuck. This appears meant to prevent theft? Obviously, a thief will make up a cover story like the one above. Is there a way around this, or is this IMEI/MB locked out till I can supply the email address of the previous owner, who threw it away broken?

I've got the XT1776, have rebooted, then factory reset, but continue to get the "unknown error" message mentioned above regardless of whether I use the New setup or the Restore options at the google setup page ( after wifi).

Welcome to Android Central! Sorry, but we can't help you with that. It's a security measure. If you find a phone, the best thing to do is submit it to an appropriate lost & found or police department.
