Unable to transfer photos to pc

My pc is windows 10 and I've updated my drivers with media package, my phone is Moto G5 and is set to MTP to import photos but for some reason I get an error message saying it can't import, I've had Motoirola on it who want to reset or repair the phone which is 2 months old & doesn't need it, I'm just missing something thats all. HELP PLEASE.

Guess I am a little confused... there are no drivers required for MTP mode, Windows 7 and newer all come with MTP drives embedded into the OS, and it just shows up as a device in My Computer. From there you can just open it and navigate to the appropriate directory and copy like normal.

When issues arise, it is usually from only a couple things...

The media database in the phone is out of sync with the actual files (MTP doesn't let you access the directories directly even though it appears that way, you are accessing a database) and those can be corrected by first disconnecting the USB cable, then going to Settings - Apps and tap the 3 button overflow menu and select "Show System", then scroll down and find External Storage and Media Storage. Open each of those and tap Storage, then Clear Data (you will not lose any data, only the databases are deleted), and then reboot. After the phone appears to be up and operating normally let it sit for at least 5 minutes for the databases to rebuild automatically (there is no notification this is occurring or completed) and then reconnect the USB and try to access your files.

The other issue is with your computer... there are some issues with USB drivers, there can be OS corruption of the configuration, and hardware defects. First try a different USB port, preferably one of a different "type", meaning if you had it connected to a USB 3.0 port, try a USB 2.0 port, or vis-versa. If this fails, I would recommend downloading a Linux image and make a live bootable USB flash drive and boot to that, then connect the phone and see if you can access it (Linux requires no drivers to talk to an Android device), if you can you have a Windows or driver problem, if it doesn't work you likely have an odd hardware compatibility.

One last thing would be trying to connect the phone either after a booting in Safe Mode, or after a factory reset.

Of course, all of this can be eliminated if you just use Google Photos to automatically backup all your photos online... you don't need to physically connect your device to your computer at all, just go to https://photos.google.com to access all your pictures at anytime.

Cheers Guys, I downloaded the Media Package because that's what Motorola told me to do, saying my drivers needed updating. My pc is an old 1 so I think I only have a 2 port, as you can tell I'm a Homer Simpson type tech head,DOH, so not up with all the wordings etc or anything come to that, it's an age thing. I have Google Photos but it makes no difference, I still get the error message but I will try Acejavelins 1st suggestion, so I may be back but if not thank you again.

Go to Google Photos on your phone. Go to settings, back up & sync, and make sure it is marked. Be sure to be on Wi-Fi, if you have a lot of photos, and limited data. Next, go to https://photos.google.com/ on your computer. You don't need anything connecting the phone and the computer. It will sync via the internet. Sign into Google Photos on your computer with your Google account, and the photos should be there. Please let me know.

There should be no need for any special "import" program.

After you connect the phone to the computer, unlock the security screen, and accept the computer connection, can you browse the phone like a hard drive using Windows File Explorer? If yes, just use File Explorer to drag and drop your files from the phone to the computer.

Why not use Google Photos to backup your photos, unlimited storage, and access them anywhere/anytime?
