Unable to type in messaging app

Occasionally I cannot type anything in the messaging app. A lot of times it seems to occur when I get a text and the app is already open. Onscreen keyboard comes up, but nothing happens when I type. If I hit the back button and go select another person it works. Any ideas?

Unless you've rooted or install a program that might have caused this, you may want to try a hard reset. Make sure to backup your data.

Are you using Swype?

I haven't rooted phone, but did try swype for a little while. I uninstalled it and the problem remains. Could this be related to having swype installed?
