Unable to use Email encryption on Galaxy J5 2017

I have successfully used email encryption on Galaxy S6 and A5 (Android 7). But same certificates will not work on Galaxy J5 2017 (Android 8). Certificates install OK and can be selected, but sending encrypted or signed emails always fails.

Has anyone else managed to use email encryption certificates with either a Galaxy J5 or Android 8?
