Unaccounted battery drain and laggy

Hello,

I've had this tab S 10.5 for about 2-3 years now. For the first, it was my mother's and she didn't use it (can't recall if it was normally plugged in or dead).

The tablet was very good at the start-fast, great battery life etc. However, it's gotten laggy and burns through its battery now. It's on the newest OS, but the issue isn't recent to that.

Laggy: it's slow to scroll, takes an extended period to load images or even load a page. Sometimes the page won't even load (chrome). It'll also often fail to keep streaming a video and I'll have to refresh pages (we have two tab s 10.5, the other doesn't have the issues so it's not connection).

Battery:
With screen set to almost as low as it'll go with auto adjust turned off I'll burn through 75+% of the battery in 3-4 hours just editing pdf and mild Internet use (ie. Downloading notes as I use it for school, no games or video, sound etc). The area near the camera will also sometimes get very hot and even plugged into a 2A 5.3V charger the battery will go down in those situations. It'll usually at least hold otherwise. It does charge to 100%, or so it says.

I have very few apps installed other than xodo docs and other google docs type things. Periodically I may install a game, but I uninstall them shortly. I purge the cache and have tried virus scanning and moving as much to an SD card as possible.

Any suggestions?

Edit:
Forgot to mention on the battery usage screen, today for example I used ~80% in 4 hours, but the usage screen only added up to ~30%

If I do need to replace the battery, any suggestions on to where to find one? The amazon listings look shady at best.

Would that explain the lag as well?

If I need to replace do you have any suggestions as to where to buy a replacement?

I think it is time for you to have a system reset and clean out the cobwebs which accumulate over time. It will be just like having a new machine. Be sure to backup your photos and music and then just clean it out. You will be glad you did.
