Unauthorized sign-ins with Emoze Push Mail?

I installed Emoze Push Mail on Tuesday, and linked my AOL account. By Wednesday AOL was sending me warnings of multiple sign-ins to my account from Israel.

I'm new to the customizable world of Android, so I've never used a third-party email client before. Is this standard? Is this just how it looks when my emails are being handled through an Israeli company's software, or am I being hacked?

Any advice appreciated.

Your best bet would be to contact the Emoze folks directly (support@emoze.com). You could also see if AOL (mobile.products@teamaol.com) has any comment about the use of this email service.
I looked through the recent comments for the Emoze app and didn't see anything suspicious.

Thanks GSDer. Emoze wrote me "It is fine - our server is trying to connect to your mailbox.
Please approve access from our server in order to use Emoze." I use AOL's free service. I don't know how to approve access to a third party's server, nor do I know how to get help from AOL, as AOL only provided support to its paying customers. Does the mobile.products@teamaol.com email you gave me reach people who might talk to a non-paying customer? Thanks in advance.

Well, that was the email address associated with the AOL app, which is a free app. It certainly wouldn't hurt to wing them a question.
Perhaps if you login to their Web mail you'll see something about authorizing 3rd party services to access their server.
Sorry, I only use Gmail so I can't give you any suggestions based on experience with AOL.

I had the same warning with my gmail, i had removed this app, and i will never use it again, change your password by the way..

I second that.
Let an Israeli company access your email credentials fetching your emails to Israel?
Uninstal app, change passwords. Use Touchdown. Much better client and a hell of a lot more secure.

Yeah I installed that app today and within a minute got a Google security alert: Someone recently used your password to try to sign in to your Google Account xxxx@gmail.com. This person was using an application such as an email client or mobile device. We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt: Saturday, October 12, 2013 1:58:57 AM UTC IP Address: 82.80.32.135 (bzq-80-32-135.static.bezeqint.net.) Location: Tel Aviv, Israel I changed the pw and uninstalled but I see no way to alert the Google Play people or anything. I emailed them from Facebook but no matter what they say, I have never had this happen with any other email apps and do not trust what they might say. Ironic the app is all about extra security ;=)

This is why is called PUSH email!!
You installed this to get your emails pushed to your device, hence their server will fetch the emails for you and deliver them to your device.
and yes, it is way better to use US software, that way your info is protected by NSA! LOL

Using kaiten paid version now and am happy.
Appreciate the clarifications.

Not only with GMail! I see that, if you input an Exchange account in Emoze, the Israeli server also starts accessing the exchange server, on a couple of 82.80.32.138, 82.80.32.148, 82.80.32.135 (from what my network admin told me). While even the stock email program on my SIII mini is able to "push mail", why on earth should EMoze need to pull all my mail over their server?

And, now they have my user name / password combination for my exchange account, you can imagine what they could do with that information....not saying they will but I still think it's strange. Or am I really being paranoid?

Changed my password just in case, though. ;)

I immediately uninstalled it as well.

Suddenly I got several attempts of suspicious attempts to login into my email account(s) from server in Israel.

Yikes. You don't have to make it easy for them.

Changed my PW immediately afterwards.

Cheers.
