Unbiased observations regarding One and S4

One of the biggest advantages of the ONE for me is 32 gigs and being able to see the screen outside. G4 is very hard to read outside. I know this because I own both.

Perhups you haven't adjusted your brightness. Most reviews say it easy to read outside and One is only slightly brighter

I read somewhere that auto-brightness will allow even brighter screen outside than the max manual setting will.

Hope the S4 is better outside than the S3 - I was out yesterday with my S3 and struggled to see the screen at all!

The more I read about these two phones, the more I'm convinced that picking between the two is about having a good understanding of YOUR needs and preferences and usage patterns. I think some people are overly swayed by a particular spec or single feature and get in trouble when they let that rule their purchasing decisions instead of taking the time to do a practical tour of each phone and go through their most common tasks to see which one will provide the smoothest experience.

The S4 is 25% brighter than the S3 but that still translates into a big fat "not really". Well, it is a little. Don't get me wrong, it's better but not by any amount to make a world of difference. Just so ya know, I own both now.

I really like both phones, but I would rather have the S4 because of the build quality. That's right. I prefer the lighter, plasticky feel of Samsung phones better than the HTC One. I also like the white color of the S4. All the other specs are about even. Style and feel is what separates the two for me.
