I was looking at getting the HP Touchpad to read CBZ/CBR files (basically a archive filled with images). I realize that definitely wouldn't really stress the processor much if at all so I was thinking for a low power task like that I could underclock the processor down to about a third its original power and that would increase the battery life dramatically without much sacrifice in the line of performance.
Any input on my theory would be nice.

I'm sure it would help a bit but the screen draws the most power from the battery by a long shot.

It would be handy to see a comparison of battery life with different clock speeds, maybe with a video running on a loop. I may do this myself just out of curiosity soon.

Before I put the TP on standby at night, I change the CPU governor to POWERSAVE which keeps the CPU locked in the mimimum frequency.

This allowed me to save a lot of battery. With ondemantcl, battery drained 10% overnight. With POWERSAVE, it drained 4$ only.
