"Unfortunately, samsung account has stopped" - installing from Galaxy Apps

Hands down, this is THE most annoying thing I've ever had to deal with on a phone.

Recently got a Gear Fit 2 via a Samsung promotion, so I was attempting to download new watch faces for it through the Galaxy apps. I can scroll through the listed apps/faces with no problem...I have my Samsung account information plugged into settings already, too. However, when I go to install something, it pops up with a Samsung account login screen, shows the loading icon, and then a pop up immediately afterwards that reads "Unfortunately, samsung account has stopped." Said pop up from hell will continue to re-pop every time you hit OK.

It appears to be associated directly with Galaxy apps, so I tried to go in and force stop/clear cache/clear data. To be on the safe side, I did that for Galaxy Apps, GearFit2 Plugin, Samsung Accessory Service, Samsung Gear, and Samsung+. This did not work.

I then did a factory reset. Even THIS did not solve my problem!

I need help. I'm going to pull my hair out.

Did you clear cache/factory reset the watch or phone? I would suggest clearing cache for both and see if that helps. Also, before re-installing all your apps and services (don't restore account via the setup process after reset) and see if that let's you get started without the force closing. It could be app related and one particular app is causing the problem.

I cleared the caches/data from my phone first, then did a light reset on the watch - didn't help.
I then factory reset the phone, and also the watch - didn't help, even when I didn't restore my apps after the factory reset.
I should clarify, that I could download from Galaxy Apps fine... so long as it wasn't in the Watch Faces section.

I ended up having to create a new Samsung account before it actually started working and let me download. So, oddly enough, it had something to do with my original Samsung account? Has that happened to anyone before?

Yup. Started to happen to me also last night. Only solution was to create another Samsung account. WTF Samsung?

I also have had that problem and this is how i fixed my issue.
For some strange reason the user details were missing in account profile and that was what was causing the issue. Im guessing that this happened after the update.
What i did was i headed over to account.samsung.com and logged in and saw a few details like my first and last name missing from my profile details which was necessary and then when i checked on my phone it worked. The error msg was gone.
Hope this helps.

Ditto, I can confirm this works, I did the exact same thing.

Perfect, this solved it for me. Thank you!

After 6 months of this ridiculous error messages. 3 resets and multiple calls to Samsung support, you have finally resolved this for me! Xmas came early. Thank you!

I had the same issue, and it ended up being tied to the account not having all of the profile filled out. So, I had to go to http://account.samsung.com, sign in with my username and password, then fill save it there before it started to work on the phone.

Furqan7,

I did what exactly what you did. The only difference I see is it's asking for me to fill in my country and it has the * sign and there's no spot for me to either fill that in or click on the arrow to select my country. Which, I think, is causing my continued issue. If you or anyone else have an idea on how to fix this little cluster **** of a problem I'm all ears. Hopefully its before I take a hammer to this big pile of dog ****. Thank you anyone willing to help.
