New to the Gnex. On my old Dinc2 it always annoyed me I couldn't delete things like NFL mobile, so the greater flexibility of the Gnex is nice. However, there are still some apps I have no interested in that I can't seem to find uninstall options, most appear to have some tie to Google. Things like Google+, Talk, Messenger+, Latitude, Local, etc. I do see "disable" as an option if I go to app info, is this my only option? What exactly does it do? Things like Latitude and Local don't give either option, rather they give "uninstall updates"?

While I am here if I could ask what messenger+ is? Seems to just bring me to the Google+ app.

Thanks

those are "core" Google applications of GAPPS. They can not be disabled unlike the add on carrier applications.

Some are standlone apps like Google talk while others tie into another base app like maps with Latitude, Local, navigation or Google + with the messenger app.

If you want to remove them there are Roms out there that do not have the GAPPS installed but you lose out on Gmail, maps and other software that you may want.

Glad to see you are enjoying the Gnex app issues aside..

Thanks for the reply.

The stand alones like Google+ and Talk, what exactly does the disable option do?

They remove the app from access to system resources. While it is still on your device its just taking up a small amount of space and will not show in the app tray.

Ok, sounds like what I want to do with a couple things. How would I re-enable something since it can not be found in the app tray?

Settings -> apps -> all. They will still be there.

Thanks everyone.

I have been on many forums for many topics. This one has to be one of the most helpful.
