Unique battery observation.

First off I am running the AC 2.2 Rom.

I am perfectly fine with my battery performance.

But I noticed something last night and have been experimenting all day today.

I can charge my phone until it hits green, and as soon as it goes green I reboot the phone. BUT I never take it off the charger. And when it comes back up the orange light is on saying it's charging. I go into spareparts and it usually shows I'm between 89-94% usually 91.

But while I am on spare parts it shows how long since last reboot, and I noticed every 30 secs it would go up a percent, until fully charged and then it would say 100% and the green light is on.

I would do this over and over with out taking it off the charger.

Sometimes it would take 2-4 min before it starts showing an increase in battery charge, but then it would always go up every 30 seconds on the dot.

I don't know if I am squeezing in any extra juice into the battery this way, or if maybe it never starts charging the phone for the first 8-10 min or so and this is just a defense mechanism of the battery.

Can anyone else duplicate this?

That is called bump charging. It has been discussed already. There is debate to weather or not it actually adds more juice to the battery.

I'll say it again, the nexus one green light comes on at 90%, not 100%. This is by design. I think the evo is the same way but nobody is using battery widgets on their home screen so they never noticed this.

Green light does not equal full charge. It means 90% on purpose.

So when it reaches 90% and I take the phone off the charger hours later it is still at 90%? So then if that is the case wouldn't 90% be a 100% since it will never go past 90% BTW no mention of the green light meaning it has reached 90% in the owners manual.:cool: ( being lightly sarcastic)
