Unlimited talk and text with 2gb data for $60 with 1 year contract .ymmv

I received an email from Verizon yesterday about this. They offered this plan with any new phone, but only on my current line, losing my unlimited data.

Seems like another ploy to try and get more of us off of unlimited data plans.

Seems like people who have tiered data are also able to get it. Doesn't make much sense to switch if you are on UDP and use a lot of data.

I would love to jump on this but I can't justify dropping unlimited data. That $60 would sky rocket quickly with all the data I use. ;)

Yeah, those of us who take advantage of UDP obviously won't get this deal.

Assuming that you use a lot of minutes and texts, and 2gb data, this deal is better than the similar T-Mobile plan over a 2 year contract or payment plan. T-Mobile does offer more (2.5gb, plus throttled after that), but if you only want 2gb of high speed data, then the Verizon deal here is good. You should be able to add 1gb more for $10, if so desired. Even at 3gb, Verizon would be cheaper, though, if you go to 4gb, T-Mobile would be just slightly cheaper.

Verizon
Unlimited talk, text, 2gb
$1,440 =$60*24
$200 =Subsidized iPhone
$30 =Upgrade Fee
$1,670 Total

T-Mobile
Unlimited talk, text, 2.5gb high speed, then throttled
$1,440 =$60*24
$650 =Unsubsidized iPhone
$2,090 Total

$420 Savings with Verizon over 2 years

This deal is only when you switch to Edge for people with unlimited data plans. Unless that has changed very recently.

No, not edge, this is a loyalty plan with subsidized pricing. Note that it does extend your contract to one year if your contract is currently less than that now, so if you are eligible for an upgrade, upgrade first, then move to this plan. This is not a publicly offered plan, meaning not posted on the website, but you can call in to get it.

I believe the Edge promo (called Max) is $30 for 6GB of data. This one, like dpham00 said, is described to be a loyalty program.

I thought the post on SD said that it was available without extending the contract? It was a few days ago when I read it, so maybe not.

If your contract is less than a year or off contract , then it would extend it to 1 year. If you are at a year or more, then it would not be extend the contract

Have 2 lines with this plan. No contract and got corporate discount.

Can you post a picture proving you have a corp discount on the lines.....I was told this plan was not eligible for discounts.

I just switched my three lines to the loyalty plan and will save $47.95/month. It was a tough decision giving up unlimited data, but $575/year is a significant savings.
