I submitted a request online and got an email saying I was approved, with instructions, but there's no unlock code?

It's been maybe a couple of years since I've had AT&T unlock a phone. Has something changed where no code is needed now? I haven't had a chance to put in a non-AT&T sim yet. Anyone know? Thanks.

Edit: I should add... this is an iPhone 7, so maybe the process is different?

If its an iPhone the unlocking is dont on the server side for Apple and you need to connect the device to iTunes.
Unfortunately i have only dealt with devices that were wiped so during the set up process while it was in DFU mode and connected to iTunes to update or reload the iOS it did the unlocking for me.

It may be as easy as simply connecting it to iTunes and allowing it to sync.

I know this thread is a few weeks old now but for those looking for the answer...

iPhone are always unlocked through the carrier who sends the request to Apple. Once you get the notification that the phone unlock has been approved, you simply insert the other carriers sim and then you are prompted to enter your iCloud user password. Once you do that, the iPhone is unlocked. There is no longer a requirement to connect to iTunes or restore. It's very simple now and I think this has been the method since iOS9.

I've unlocked 5 iPhones through T-Mobile and it's always been this way. AT&T will not be any different since it's still an iPhone.
