unlock in car app

i think i saw this posted but can not find it now- there is an app that u can disable the slide to unlock and password enter when you are in car so you dont need to go through those motions every time you want to use the phone, whats the name of the app?

The GPS detects movement .. So if your position is moving at a certain speed it would assume that your in a motor vehicle of some kind.

Frequent GPS polling is a good way to kill the battery.

Tasker will do this if you can establish a context (docked, USB power, etc). I haven't figured out if Tasker can remove the lock if the device is locked when I dock it. However, it can prevent the device from locking once it is unlocked.

This seems highly inefficient and a major battery drain. Bluetooth connection would probably be the better option, if you could filter it to certain bluetooth connections. For instance, only keep unlocked when connected to "NISSAN"

You don't need Tasker to do this. In Settings > Applications > Development there is an option for "Stay awake" that will prevent the phone from going to sleep while plugged in. I use it at work every day so I don't have to unlock my phone while at my desk.

sorry- i didnt necessarily need it to detect when im in the car, just a toggle widget of some kind that when i am going into the car for example, i could disable the screen from slide to unlock and disable the enter passkey etc function

I have Tasker detect when it's plugged in. This displays a menu of profiles (car, work, home) where I select the profile. Disconnecting the cable sets a "standard" profile.
