Unlockable?

Does anyone know if this will be unlockable? I know all about the sordid troubles with unlocking previous models due to the operating system being so ingrained in T-mobile's network.

I'm hoping that because this version is android powered and built by Samsung that it will be unlockable.

I've found online that there is actually an option on the device to switch to the ATT network.

Has anyone tried this?

It should work just fine. It should be unlockable just like any other phone. You could even use unlocked Danger Sidekick phones on ATT. But only phone and text would work, afaik.

That's what I'm trying to avoid, having limited functionality.

Well, it's running on android so all, if not most, functionality should be retained. The only things that may not run are T-Mobile TV, T-Mobile Mall, Cloud Texting (text via PC), Group Messaging, and Wifi Calling. Idk if Qik Video Calls are TMO or not. Besides those, it's all Android.

TMobile told me NO to get the lock code, and that they wn: sidekick propriety and would not unlock it

Or you a new customer? If so, you may need to wait about a month or so. Just tell them you may be traveling out of country and need the phone to be unlocked.

You can find phones unlocked on ebay or ebay so it's possible. Somebody know if internet works in France? thanks
