Unlocked Carrier phone software upgrades?

Ignorant on this one. If I unlock my ATT phone and stay with them, I assume they will still provide software upgrades as normal.
What happens if I go to a MVNO or another major carrier with my unlocked ATT phone?

I get that if I buy unlocked, it would be Sammy in my case providing updates but once carrier unlocked are you SOL?

Have been fighting with ATT over Note 10+ that is still on Android 9 UI1.5. Considering unlocking and going elsewhere after 3 days of promised fixes and call backs that never happened.

Get it unlocked first then flash the unlocked firmware with odin

Still curious though, once unlocked, if you go elsewhere are you always going to be doing your own thing via odin? Have never done that and while not afraid, I am not what I used to be. Had a stroke a little over a year ago and my brain thinks I did things that my fingers didn't. Sort of like thinking you posted to General discussion, then realizing it was Note 8. Sucks but glad to still be here bumbling through life. May have to find a you broke, i fix place. Appreciate your previous reply!

Well try unlocking it first and if you go to another carrier see how it works .

1. You won't have to worry after August - no more updates starting then.

2. You can go to an AT&T Customer Support center, and ask them to flash an update, if you don't want to do it yourself.
