Unlocked N8 w/AT&T - no Visual Voicemail - help!

Well, everything is going swimmingly with my unlocked N8, or at least it was until I noticed there wasn't a Visual Voicemail app. OK, this is my first unlocked phone, and the app had to be preinstalled with my previous AT&T phones. Yes, there is an AT&T Voicemail app in the app store, but I sure can't get it to even download, let alone install. At first I got "an error occurred" message when I tried installing it -- now, the store is saying that it's not compatible with my phone.

I have looked through the store for other voice mail apps, but everything seems to be either for different providers, or they just don't look like they would actually work as a simple visual voice mail app.

So, does anyone have any suggestions for getting back to some modern voice mail on my fabulous new Note 8? Going back to the old keypad and voice prompts is going to get very old, very soon. Thanks in advance for any help you could send my way!

I got an unlocked LG V20 and was unable to install AT&T visual voicemail from Google Play Store. I got the APK from APK Mirror and installed it. It works fine on my device.

I have an AT&T Note 8 straight from Samsung. No Visual Voicemail app. I tried downloading it but it wouldn't let me log in. I can get to my messages from my phone so I know that the PIN is correct.

Voicemail. Just Visually instead of calling the automated thing like in the past.

The premium from Verizon just allows you to get voicemail-to-text.

I don't get a lot of voicemails, but before VVM I would forget about checking them for a few days, and hated having to skip past old messages trying to get to the ones I had saved. It's a godsend! Once you use it, you won't want to be without it.

Visual Voicemail is absolutely NOT "built" into the phone app on the unlocked Note 8 like the OP is talking about. The ONLY way to get VVM on an unlocked Samsung phone on AT&T is to download the extremely terrible AT&T visual voicemail app which is a standalone app outside of the phones dialer.

I ran into this as well. Seems it's no longer a separate app. Get to it through the dialer. I'm on AT&T.

But your Note 8 is an AT&T version not a factory unlocked version

On my unlocked Note 8, there is an icon where the tutorial above shows a voicemail app icon, but it looks more like a "message" icon, and I can tap it constantly for the next several thousand years, but it won't launch or do anything whatsoever. When I installed the APK file as mentioned above, the app worked just fine, though it's obviously some visually different version from the one that was on my AT&T S8+. I presume it's a "new, improved" version -- I prefer its controls a bit compared to the one on my S8+.

As I explained for someone else above. There is absolutely no built in visual voicemail in the dialer on any US unlocked Samsung phones. This includes the Note 8, S8 and S8+.

The only way to get built in VVM in the dialer is to buy the branded carrier version. Otherwise the only option for VVM is a third party stand alone app used outside of the dialer.
