I’m sorry if this covered elsewhere. I tried searching and couldn’t find anything here. I bought a pixel 6 pro unlocked from Google to use with Verizon. I just saw this morning that it was having issues getting the latest updates without having to side load them? I’ve seen a few places say this has been fixed but just wanted anyone else’s input from here. Has it been fixed? I really don’t want to sideload any of the updates.

It has been fixed, but the updates have been delayed across the board by the carriers and by Android. The December update was delayed and then cancelled. Android will roll it into the January 2022 update.

As long as you have a Verizon SIM card (or eSIM) you'll get all the Verizon updates.

Awesome thank you so much. Yup have my Verizon sim ready and a bunch of cases and screen protectors ordered. Phone should be here tomorrow. I’m used to delayed I’ve had Samsung before lol. This will be my first pixel since the 2XL and I’m more than a little excited lol.

You should get a day one update when you set up the phone which will patch it to November. Let us know if you get this one or not.

Congrats! I hope everything sets up nicely for you and your new purchase

Thanks. After hearing all the horror stories and everything about the SIM cards and updates I was instantly regretting the purchase but it sounds like everything’s been fixed with that.

It was not fixed. If you have the base/stock C2 version, as in you set up in October, it will update to the Nov Verizon version, you should get the mid November update.

If you set it up with no SIM in after Nov 5, like tons of folks do, you are stuck on the world wide November 5th build, and will not get the mid November build, did not get the December build, that build was stopped and no word on if you will get the January build.

In other words, you question has a multipart answer, but it has NOT been fixed.

If you want to be sure, put that Verizon SIM in the phone when you set it up. otherwise you will get the world wide build and you will be stuck.

Thank you good to know. I’ve always put my sim in any unlocked phone before I turn it on and set it up.

I’m coming from an iPhone this time around so I’ll have to do a fresh install. Although I usually do anyway. Never liked the idea of bringing possible problems from an old phone to a new one.

So, if I bought my 6 Pro from the Google Store, and financed through Verizon, my normal Carrier, do I have an unlocked phone? Never thought about it before.

Depends on which one you picked.

If financed through Verizon sounds like its a Verizon model no?
Google unlocked is either credit card or it own financing or im missing something?

I'm pretty sure the Verizon financing is only available for Verizon specific models.

OP this is the same boat I'm in. I really want to get this but not through VZW as I might leave them later this year. Would you be so kind to provide your experiences when you get everything set up as well as how everything is going? I'll be certain to like every comment lol. I won't be getting it until later this month if not next

If you leave Verizon, you have to factory reset your phone to remove the Verizon build, or you won't get the world wide build you are supposed to be on every other carrier, or side load it.

That is good knowledge in case I do move on from them and it makes sense when you put an ounce of thought into it lol. Been with VZW for 20 years but their pricing is so outdated. We'll see though. Thanks for the info
