If I buy an unlocked LG V20 from B&H or other vendor, how do Android updates get delivered? I've only had carrier phones so far, and they've always come via the carrier (AT&T in my case).

Thanks

You would be looking at faster updates with an unlocked phone. There won't be any reason or need for the manufacturer to go through strict carrier partnership testing restrictions (less hands to shake). Google would push out updates for the OS & you would get them through the manufactuer. Just be sure to grab the proper phone that's fully compatible with your carrier bands.

And it may very well be that the unlocked version is a compromise for any US carrier.

On Verizon you just lose visual voicemail and wifi calling. You can go third party for visual voicemail. For me the wifi calling is a bigger issue.

According the the B&H carrier compatibility list for the unlocked version, Verizon isn't even listed. I've never used an unlocked phone, so I guess it's possible I'm missing something.

I meant unlocked phones in general. You would have to look at the carrier bands to determine compatibility

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I'm still undecided on where to purchase. I may wait for the dust to settle.
