Unlocking an AT&T G3

I purchased the G3 from AT&T off-contract.
Is there any point in having it unlocked if I plan on staying with AT&T?
Do I need to unlock it before a Root?

If you're staying with AT&T and don't plan on using it internationally then there's no need to unlock it.

You can root without unlocking.

Rooting and unlocking have nothing to do with each other. And there's also unlocking bootloader, which is different than the unlocking you're talking about.

It's all how you feel about it. If you decide to resell then sim unlocking is recommended.

Correct, you would have to root to take the bloatware off
