I have an S20 Ultra on T-Mobile. It's fully paid for. Is there any downside to my getting it unlocked? For example will I lost T-Mobile visual voicemail?

No, sim unlock has no affect on firmware. So it'll be still be the same T-Mobile firmware with all the stuff like before and updates still come from T-Mobile.

Sim unlock just gives you ability to use the phone on other networks but your firmware is unaffected.

No , it's still a carrier variant, can flash to unlocked firmware once you sim unlocked , but no guarantee which will get the update first
