Unlocking Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini on Orange/EE - "Not Active"

Hi all,

I'm trying to unlock my S3 mini so that I can use a local sim when I go abroad.

The guides from around the web suggest the following method: "Just dial the following keys *#197328640#Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone" (Source: GIFF GAFF Support trying to unlock samsung galaxy s3 mini

When I select "Network Lock", my only option says "Not Active" - does this mean that my phone is already unlocked? And is there a way to test this before I go away?

I have had a few unlocked in the past, most recently a Huawei mifi unit on 02, or something, for Three (also in UK).

I found a very good helpful young guy on eBay who would give you a specific code based on the device information he requested, I'm sure it was the IMEI and some other things (12-18 months ago) .

You may be correct, but I suspect you would need a code for your device only.
