Unlocking Sprint's Moto X GSM radio

I have read that you can unlock the GSM radio in Sprint's GSM Moto X by flashing the firm ware.

Now, I have experience in flashing different roms on my HP Touchpad. I have not attempted to unlock and root my Sprint Moto X because of the lengthy procedure (26 steps I have checked). How is flashing the firm ware different? I would guess I would need a PC or can it be done via the phone with a terminal. I am reserved in doing this with out being 100% certain I will not brick the phone beyond recovery.

If you have done it, I would like to hear your experience about it.

I did mine by using ADB. It is hard for me to break down the steps, cause I only did it a couple times. I found a YouTube video by QBKing77 that shows how to set it up on your PC.

Sorry for leading people astray, I misread the person I quoted when I gave an answer. I did find this: Unlocking GSM capable devices

I got my Sprint Moto X unlocked before I went to Aruba. When I asked the rep if it will revert back to locked, they said no. When I asked if it included GSM domestic they did not clarify.

So after 90 days, call and get it unlocked. When I went into the cell network settings, it showed AT & T and T-Mobile in gsm. Don't know if it means for anything. When I get some cash I'll check it out if I could get Att sim card and try it out.

UPDATE:

I tried it with a friend's AT&T and it did not worked. I looks like it's only international only.

I?ve got a Sprint Moto X that cannot be used here in Spain. Impossible to unlock. There is a lot of people overseas in the same situation. All we have is a beautiful brick on our desks.
I don?t know if you can help, but I would really appreciate if you took a look to this thread.
[REQUEST] To make SIM-Unlock possible, need all files from OTA Unlocked Sprint MOTO X - xda-developers
As you will see, this guy is trying to find the way to unlock the Sprint Moto X and he needs some files from phones that have been already unlocked by Sprint.
I would really appreciate your participation in that thread or if you could send him a PM.
