Unlocking your phone is allowed once again

Finally! The idea that we couldn't before was ridiculous.

Not an issue in current Verizon 4GLTE smartphones, as Verizon provides them factory sim unlocked.

Even previously s few years back, I had requested a few unlocks and Verizon provided them on the spot.

Also, I probably misread the article but I couldn't find anywhere where it said that consumers can unlock the phones themselves. It just says that the carrier will unlock the phones upon request once the consumer meets certain criteria.

You're correct...they don't have to unlock it if you are under contract or if you're still financing your phone.

I can understand this though... Since you don't fully own your phone.

This will help for people who own it. Like when I owned my HTC One on Sprint and paid full price.. Then they wouldn't unlock.
