I just picked up the TB on Verizon and noticed the salesperson put a GSM card into the phone. Is the TB a GSM phone working on CDMA?

If this is the case, can the TB be unlocked for global use? Im leaving the country soon and was planning on taking my iphone 4 that has been carrier unlocked and jailbroken, but if the TB is GSM and can be unlocked I might bring it as well.

Someone told me I could just call Verizon and ask for the SIM IMEI code and they will give it to me, is this true? IF not, who can I go to for this unlock?

My iphone4 is unlocked and jailbroken... is rooting the same as jailbreaking? What are the benefits? Now with iOS there are many easy programs to jailbreak that some only require no more than a few simple steps to accomplish. When I searched the rooting thing, seems like its really complicated and a newbie like me shouldnt try to do it on my own. Is there a simple program or way to do this?

Its a 4G SIM card. I'm not entirely sure why its needed, but it allows you access to the 4G network, and for your phone to work. I'm fairly certain its not a global phone.

the Thunderbolt has a CDMA radio and an LTE radio. the LTE radio needs the SIM card to acsess the 4g LTE network. it is NOT GSM!

there are rumors of LTE networks in Verizon's band being implimented in Europe in the next few years. when/if this happens it will have "global" capability

Technially LTE is the evolution of GSM.

It also makes switching phones a lot less of a headache. No more programming or dealing with store reps. Just get yer phone n get out.
