[Unofficial] Verizon roadmap

Who says that VZW will get that rumored Nexus phone? You can always wait for the next best, but then you wait forever. When that Nexus comes out there will be rumors for an even better phone that is coming 3 months later, and so on.

I have been waiting since November to upgrade. I have 2 choices, the Bionic and S2. I will be buying one of those and will not look back.

I agree with that. But being on Verizon makes me hope for some sort of pure device since we haven't had one since the original Droid. I'm personally sick of waiting for updates, but don't want to sacrifice my good service. But I too will get the SGS II if no pure device comes before the year ends.

Better the chance of a Nexus than the certainty of:
Blur
Locked bootloader (or will it be unlocked?)
VZW bloatware
Blur-related delays of updates
Did I mention Blur?

All that PLUS a two-year commitment?

I was impressed by the Bionic - the Atrix, anyway - in the early days and might have broken my contract to get one. Now? No way. Two years of aging technology is way too much for anything less than a fresh Nexus-class phone.

Btw, I would seriously bet against anything Android upstaging a Nexus phone within three months or more of release.

Didn't address the iPhone because it's not something I would consider. Ditto BB or anything running WP7. I want the best of Android and nothing else.

That and the fact that this forum is named - strangely enough - Android Central.

I am the same way and it all comes down to pretty much which is first unless there is some solid rumors that the gs2 will have LTE. Otherwise I will get the bionic since it is looking like moto is going to unlock the bootloader.

My NE2 is TODAY, so now I am really feeling the pressure to upgrade from my BB Storm2 (which has been good to me)! Come on Bionic. I waited with my last NE2 from June 29th until Oct 29th to purchase the Storm2; I hope I don't have to wait that long again!

wow, VZW really wants to get the latest smartphones out, don't they? (/sarcasm)

they continue to peddle the iOS devices which is fine, if you have the supposed "game changer" then advertise it!.
i think the reason we don't see the galaxy s2 or the new HTC phones is because the Droid Incredible 2 just came out a month or so ago. and the HTC T-bolt has been out for a while now. add on to that they JUST added the droid charge, two of the latter being 4g-capable devices.

i have to agree, it probably won't be to maybe august or september that we see new androids, plus this is right around the time that most retailers start advertising christmas events.

and on the 4g note, not every town in the country has 4g yet, for that matter not every single town has 3g...some rual markets still run off 2g.

and as for bloatware, i have to agree, even though rooting the phone and running like titantiam backup can get rid of them, it shouldn't be that way to begin with.

you can also get the phone via a 3rd party and not have to deal with the software you probably aren't going to use (blockbuster, scrabble, tetris, mine came with twidroid which i actually do enjoy, i will give them credit on that)

because some iPhone users buy mainly on brand name, not functionality or specs of the phone.
keyword: SOME, not all.

my sister just went from an dinc1 to an iphony4 and i asked why go from a bigger camera bigger screen to a smaller screen and smaller camera? and she said i'm a liar the iphone screen is bigger and the camera is better! she got an iphone just to get an iphone.

yeah, excatly my point, apple's marketing campain relies on the old "if you don't have this, you are left in the dust" mentality

does the iPhone have an HDMI out so i can hook it to my tv?, no, it doesn't.
"but it has bluetooth for cars and headsets!" yeah, so does every other phone since 2004.
"but, it's the first touchscreen phone, and the first one with apps!"
blackberry has been around alot longer then the iPhone last i checked. and actually, the first Touchscreen phone was made by IBM back in the early 90's. it was known as the Simon.
