Unread Counters

I see reviews with phones having apps with bunch of unread notification markers at the top right corner. With apps such as instagram snapchat and Facebook.

My Galaxy S7 only shows them for stock email app messaging apps and Facebook.

It doesn't show them for instagram or snapchat or Gmail or any other apps with push notifications. Why is that?

I receive notifications. See them at the top of the screen. See them in the notification area. But no unread marker with the app icon.

Why is that? I don't understand. Is it a Samsung thing?

When I use Nova launcher and download the unread marker and turn them on they all work fine.

Google now launcher doesn't even has the option. Stupid launcher.

This is a launcher dependent feature. So yes it may be viewed as a Samsung thing.

All people who use Samsung face this? Doesn't it bother anyone? It's so unnecessarily ommited.

I dunno. I've been using Nova launcher for years. First thing I do on a new phone after the initial setup is download Nova and Swiftkey. I don't bother anymore.

Others perhaps they don't mind it since there's the notification bar.

Nova Launcher along with TeslaUnread Counts will give you unread counts on whichever apps you select.

For me it shows on my note 5 the number on the apps haven't had issue with that so far. And I'm not using nova launcher or anything

Which apps though?

Like I said I do get them for some apps like Facebook messaging apps whatsapp and many more. But not for instagram snapchat and many other apps. I thought it was an android thing but I saw a review of the LG G5 which had all its apps including snapchat and instagram showing the unread markers.

I'm not, not believing you but can you take a screen shot of your screen with Instagram or Snapchat showing that unread count marker? And post it here?
