Unread Text Notification Missing

So, for some reason a few days ago I stopped receiving the little numbered icon on top of my stock messaging app on my N3 indicating how many unread texts I have...I'm not sure what if anything I did or why it stopped, I'm using the Nova Launcher...what menu do I look at to fix this?

When you use Nova, you also need to install their Tesla Unread app. That's what give you the notifications for all of your apps. They won't notify on the desktop you without it.

That was it thanks, I've had the Tesla thing installed together with the Nova app for a while now...somehow the SMS box got unchecked, I'm not sure how I haven't opened that app for months. Thanks for the info!
