Unrevok3d after installing 2.2 OTA?

You the same reborn that got banned yesterday? Unrevoked 3 will not root 2.2 as of now. If you phone isn't s-offed you are stuck until a solution comes around.

Not true, you can revert to 2.1 and root with unrevoked 3 then install the leaked froyo rom. Check it out on the xda-developers.com forums for instructions on how to do this.

Yeah you can REVERT back to 2.1 and root. UnRevoked 3.1 does not work with 2.2........if your phone isn't S-offed you won't be able to flash another recovery to 'revert back to 2.1' so you need it. I think you should do some additional reading before offering up help, thanks.

Follow this guide

Then reroot with unrevoked, then install S-OFF (unrevoked forever) then update again.

Not not lies, it will allow you to revert IE go back to 2.1 so you can root your phone and install s-off. Once you redo the 2.2 update you will lose clockworkmod and root again. The only way right now to have root on 2.2 is to flash an already rooted 2.2 ROM. Please read. They link you have given is for people who flashed the OTA and realized they can't get root.

Without s-off you can not revert to 2.1 without the link your provided. Which is installing the s-off and 2.1 NOT A ROOTED 2.2.

LOL.

Actually that's not quite true either. I installed the stock RUU and I have root access. I had S-OFF enabled before loading the RUU...which as you mentioned, lets you install a custom recovery. I loaded Clockwork, then loaded the su\root payload, then loaded Superuser Whitelist. Now I have root, and I didn't have to load a custom ROM.

This thread is full of fail. Too much false information.
You can revert with S-OFF.
Also unrevoked stated that their root method was not patched. You can get root if you wait. They are probably working on a way to get unrevoked to work with H-Boot 92

Well yeah.....after you install clockworkmod, load a payload, and install superuser. S-off does not give you root, it gives you the ability to root.

You are right, which is what I have been saying.....you can revery with S-off, but if you install the OTA even with s-off you will not have root. To get root you either have to install a rooted rom or make your own ROM by flashing a payload that roots it, it's the same thing except one you have to do all the steps the other it's cooked into the ROM.

Also like I said as of right now, unRevoked 3.1 does not work with 2.2 (Froyo). So the only way as of right now to easily have 2.2 with root is to flash the stock rooted 2.2 ROM.....or obviously you can root it yourself with the payload, which is the same thing........

So exactly how was this thread full of fail again?

Because you can root using unrevoked if you are on froyo.
Its ready just hasn't seen daylight. Yet it will. Real soon.
EVO/Incredible 1-click root update: we'll be supported both in the next version of unrevoked. No more downgrading.
