unrevoked.apk file work with froyo?

Sorry before i asked this question i googled the crap out of it and tried to find the answer.. i really want super user access i just really dont want to ruin my phone. Im already on froyo and was wondering if the unrevoked.apk file easy move to sd card thing still works. I knoticed anything about this was about 3 monthes ago..

Does this method still work if on froyo?

i dont really care if i cant wifi tether through this method (itd be nice and ive heard its possible) or flash custom roms or even remove sprint apps..

Please dont respond with just root your phone or anything of that nature.

Froyo can't be rooted at all yet. The only way around it is to downgrade to 2.1 and root from there. I'd stay away from Unrevoked though. Heard some bad things about that way to root. Do SimpleRoot 1 step. It's so easy a caveman can do it.. Sorry had to.. But seriously, SimpleRoot is easy as like 3 clicks of your mouse and that's it. I know you may not want to full root but your much safer doing SimpleRoot and getting full root than risking your phone with UnRevoked and not even getting full root. I've heard MANY horror stories aka bricked phones by using UnRevoked than any other method. it's not worth it.

He's right stay away. From experience I can tell you it caused probs when trying to load roms (Cm6 in particular)

In your case its quite okay man haha, you pointing out an easy way to root without me typing into commands ( i have horrible ADD get incredibly sidetracked while doing such tedious things) really helps out!

if i do simpleroot do i have to go back to 2.1? if so does that just require a simple hard reset..feel like at this point its probably easier to wait for them to figure out some way to use simple root for 2.2. What ROM does this method come with.. this i really dont think i care about at all as long as it works let me use root apps and gets rid of the fps cap.

Lmao. Ya SimpleRoot is too damn easy it's insane... Unfortunately to go back to 2.1 it's more complicating than a hard reset. There's a sticky in the Hacks section that shows you how to do it. You do have to type some commands but trust me, it's easy. It takes MAYBE 10 minutes to do. If you really lose focus that fast then see if you know someone that can do it lol. It's SOOO worth it man. I've done it to 6 phones so far and it's worked every time flawlessly. If you lived in Jersey I'd do it for you lol

im shaking my head right now so hard.. i wish i just knew about this when i was on 2.1 still. ill see if i can figure this out! unless you think a simple root for 2.2 is coming soon.. i can be paitent if it is haha

Haha ya that sucks man. They did a really good job with 2.2 man. I can't believe nobody has found a way to root the OTA yet. It's crazy... I have no idea when a root is going to come out for 2.2 to be honest. I say give the other way a shot. it's really not that hard. Just take your time!! And make sure you double check every single command before you hit enter. triple check if you have to. One mistake may not screw you over until like 5 steps later. If you take your time, double check every command before you hit enter you'll be good to go. Good luck!!

Just spent 10 hours getting rooted I user unrevoked was a major PITA mostly because I didn't find and fallow all the instructions. if you are going to use Unrevoked make sure you fallow all the instructions in the How to root your EVO thread at XDA. This thread belongs in the ROMs forum so I'ma moving it
