Unrooted nook color but no internal memory

Hi guys, I'm new to this whole nook color rooting and unrooting stuff. I got a NC as a gift and pretty soon decided to root it with CW7. I followed some very basic instructions and managed to do it but after a few weeks I decided I wanted to go back to the original NC as several magazines were unreadable on the rooted nook. I installed CWM recovery and got my NC back to stock but now it still won't download my magazines. It is also telling me I have no internal memory. II assume this is why it won't download any magazines, even though I have a 16 gb memory card. It has not updated itself and is still on software version 1.0.1. I don't know what to do. Please help.

Some further information-- I tried to sideload an update but when I plug the NC into my computer it is not showing up as a drive (although the NC does have the USB mode screen).
