B. Diddy was helping me with this inside another thread with a different battery topic. I thought it would be better as a separate discussion. My battery drained 20% overnight. I suspect it was the Tile app. Diddy suggested using a battery app to monitor the battery overnight so I did. Also, try safe mode, which I haven't yet.

Here are the results:

Last night = About 10% lost overnight (better than 20%). I started with 88% and now I'm thinking I did this wrong. Should have started with 100%?

The system's battery usage tracker said:

Tile 13%.
YouTube music 9%
Headphones app 6%
Orbi router at 5%.
The rest is 3% and under.

Using Accubattery, I got a different app battery usage report:

Nova Launcher 0.8%
Accubattery 0.5%
Gmail 0.5%
Settings 0.3%
Pocket Casts 0.3% (used to fall asleep)
Chrome 0.3%
Pulse SMS 0.3%
Camera 0.3%
YouTube Music 0.3%

Setting aside the different measurement numbers between the system and Accubattery, which ordered list is correct? Accubattery doesn't even mention Tile. Any thoughts?

I can't say I know all of the details of how AccuBattery works, but that section specifies "Foreground app battery usage," so it doesn't necessarily include how much battery apps use in the background. Granted, in my system settings Battery menu, my apps have minimal background usage, but it might still contribute.

Also, the system settings Battery menu is for the last 24 hrs, not since the last full charge (which is how AccuBattery reports it).

From the stats you list, it does seem that Tile is using quite a bit of battery. It's worth uninstalling it temporarily and seeing how things go. I also wonder about the Headphones app and the Orbi app. Are they necessary, or do they just add a little more functionality?

In the system settings Battery menu, also scroll down to the System Usage for Past 24 Hr and tap that -- what are the percentages there?

Now I see the header that says "Foreground..." Missed that. There's another tab for "Discharging speed" and Tile isn't on the list.

I don't think either is absolutely necessary but I would lose control of the headphones and router. I could uninstall but only temporarily.

I want to get a clean overnight reading, starting at 100% tonight. See what happens.

Mobile Network Standby 8%
Ambient Display 7%
Screen 6%
Phone idle 4%
Android OS (greyed out 3%)
Android System (greyed out 2%)
WiFi 2%

Thanks for exploring this - Always learning.

Ok, the battery usage by the system seems pretty good -- Mobile Network Standby <10% is good to see.

You should be looking at the average use per hour during screen off time. Should see around 0.4-0.6%. If not it's either the android system, an app, or your phone not deep sleeping. Is your phone going into deep sleep?

I agree that the Tile app could be the culprit bcuz it could be waking your phone up and not allowing Android to go into deep sleep mode.

This is as clean as I could get. I charged to 100%, reboot the phone, let it settle, unplugged phone and left it unplugged on a table. Also, did not use it for something to listen to when going to sleep (which I had done the night before).

Woke up to this (less than a minute or so of use), what do you think?

FYI: The deep sleep measure was 27% before I charged it for the night.

Phone itself has Tile listed at 1%, about six items down on the list.

The idle drain certainly seems reasonable. The full battery estimates are probably not accurate yet, since it may still take a few charge cycles to be revised upwards. Also, during the day while the phone is awake, see if Tile continues to creep upwards in terms of battery % again.
