Unusual rapid battery drainage (any recommendations?)

Draining Battery??...??

I've had my Charge for almost a week now, and have installed the Altered Beast V4 ROM since day one. As far as I know the ROM isn't supposed to have any effect on battery so I'll have to consider that something else is draining the hell out of it. I tested it today with no apps running, bluetooth/wifi/gps off, 4G left on -- I averaged about a 6-9% drop per hour on a standby. I know the Charge isn't known for having great battery life, but surely this is out of the ordinary.

The settings>about phone>battery usage section isn't much help. The usual suspects like the OS and such are at about 1-4%. The display hovers anywhere from 78-92%. Is that normal? I'm completely new to Android so I've no idea how to really manage the services and processes. Can anyone recommend an app I can download that may help me find the culprit? Or is it likely the fault of the battery or phone itself?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is the Exact same thing im experencing... i live in hawaii and we have to 4G yet so i dont think its That, i can go to work with phone at Full and after leaving house and getting to work it had dropped 8% and thats from just CHECKING my text messages.. i notice if i text alot my battery can drain about 20% within a 20 minutes.... i always have my wifi off, my gps stays on.. could that be the culprit..? in the settings about phone it says my display is 85% OS is 1% cell standby is 2% voice calls 3% android system 2% sensorserver_ya 1% phone idle 1%.
i dont understand how this could drain so fast. i did flash my phone to the Altered Beast V4 ROM.....?? ANy Suggestions....?? Thanks -RobBie

I pulled my phone off charging at 100% and left it when i went back to sleep for 4 hours. It had wifi on pushing email every 5 minutes. The battery was at 98% at the end of the 4 hours.

i just resigned my phone to being just a phone for txt messaging. ive turned all the features off minus wifi but mobile data and auto rotate are off . screen is at the lowest possible and i have removed auto sync on the phone. now the screen usage is a manageable 55% and im getting about 9 hours out of the battery. when i need to sync FB or email i turn the sync on and go from there. hopefully this helps you out

Is your auto brightness on? Because some people are saying that using auto brightness can be a really battery drainer.

Can you tell me how you got your gmail to sync once every hour? I can't seem to find the option anywhere

I think he may have been referring to the Samsung email app. From what I understand, GMAIL pushes the email to the phone once it is received.
